Portico d'Ottavia

Built in the second century BC, replacing the oldest Portico of Metellus, to hold the two temples of Juno Regina and Jupiter Stator, the Portico d'Ottavia was restored in the age of Augustus, and dedicated to the emperor's sister, Octavia.

In the Middle Ages, on the ruins of the portico, a large fish market was built near the church of St. Angelo in Pescheria.
